I have decided to create a blog to hopefuly raise awareness of port wine stains, and help / advise other parents and familys with childern who have a port wine stain and explain the experiences we have had so far. From the day she was born, through the hospital appointments we have had and the laser treatment she recieves. I aslo hope that when Kaitlyn is old enough she can read this and understand the decisions we made in her best intrest.

ReplyDeleteI have just come across your blog about your little girl kaitlyn. My daughter who is 6 and half now was also born with what I believe now to be a poet wine stain in exactly the same area as kaitlyn’s. When she was born we were told oh that is just a birthmark and will fade away by the time she goes to school. But it hasn’t, it is just getting darker. I’m concerned now about of course her being in school and as you know kids can be cruel. It’s the comments from grown up parents that annoy me the most. I’ve also been reading about risks involved with the port wine stain on the eye area. I am considering laser for her but gosh I don’t know how she would take it and just putting her thru that , I’m not sure!. I would love to hear about kaitlyn’s journey from 2011.
